NHL: New York Rangers have no interest in re-signing Matt Stajan

NHL.com has learned that the New York Islanders have no intention of re-engaging the 28-year-old defenseman.

Stajans contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The Isles have already been linked to defenseman Nick Leddy and goalie Jaroslav Halak.

Stjans salary was reported to be $1.5 million per season last summer.

The 6-foot-4, 208-pound native of Slovenia has not played since being released by the Islanders last December.

He has only scored 11 goals and 33 points in 59 games with the AHL’s Albany Devils.
